Breathe deep desert dust
Darla's desert adventures include valley fever and severe seasonal allergies. Follow up vet visit today. Blood work and more medication. Darla is now taking a supplement for joint health, a supplement for skin health, flea and tick preventative, an anti inflammatory, a pain med (narcotic, this one is her fave), an allergy medication, the antifungal for the valley fever, plus a special shampoo for itchy, bitchy skin, and a topical steroid - she can't do oral steroids because her immune system needs to be in tip top shape to fight the fungus. Oh, poor Darla is a mess.
The good news is that she is feeling back to herself. Her swelling has gone down and she doesn't limp anymore. She is running and acting a fool almost non stop. She should be coming off the pain meds soon and hopefully the allergies are just temporary. The supplements and the antifungal are probably for life. But for a good life. Darla is a happy girl, and very much loved.
